Isolation of dsRNA present in Pleurotus florida infected V.L.P.

Abstract

|
Double stranded ribonucleic acid has been isolated from mycelia of P. Florida which was suspected to be infected by virus-like particles, but not from nealthy isolates. The dsRNA was consisted of four major and one minor bands on 1% Agrose gel. gut there were some variations in other species as well as different parts of the fungus. These dsRNA presented in virus infected mycelium can be transferred into the healthy mycelium when they were anastomosised each other on PDA, but not through basidiospores. The mycelial growth of diseased isolates was slower than that of healthy one.
